Here are just a few of the things we're up to:
- Our February 2008 series in Baltimore
and University of Richmond was VERY well received. We
sounded great under Richard Westerfield's direction and
the audiences responded with great enthusiasm. For one
of the best reviews we've ever received click here. It
reminds us of why we do what we do!
- Our 15th
Anniversary Concert with Leonard Slatkin in October
was a huge success. Thanks to all of you who were there
and
supported
us.

- We performed for 1200+ members
of the International Trumpet Guild in May. Read
the great review here.
- Our fourth CD has been reissued on Warner
Classics! This is the first major label distribution deal
ever by
a brass ensemble and we've very excited about it. They
intend to make a big
push for
this CD in the coming months, so look for it with a new
title (Burana In Brass) and in new packaging. We've gotten
some great reviews from
Gramophone and American Record Guide on this recording,
so if you don't have it yet, don't miss out.
- We made another recording with Michael
McCarthy and the National Cathedral Choir in June which will
be released this December. Look for us on their newest Christmas
recording.

Background
The Washington Symphonic Brass is comprised of some of the finest professional musicians in the Washington/Baltimore area. While the members are in constant demand for orchestral, solo, and chamber music performances, they have assembled to play some of the great literature written for large brass ensemble. Conductor Milt Stevens and Trumpeter Phil Snedecor formed this group of players out of their love of and excitement about this fine literature. Individually, the members of the WSB have performed with many of the nation's best orchestras, such as The National Symphony, The Baltimore Symphony, and The Philadelphia Orchestra, among other illustrious institutions. The WSB performs throughout the Washington and Baltimore metropolitan area, appearing at some of the great performance spaces on the east coast. Specializing in compositions written for large brass ensemble and percussion (four trumpets, four horns, four trombones, euphonium, tuba, timpani, and percussion instruments) with organs, choruses, and other instruments optional, the varied repertoire of the Washington Symphonic Brass covers five centuries.
Incorporated in the State of Maryland,
the Washington Symphonic Brass is a not-for-profit 501c(3)
corporation. You may view our IRS
Form 990 here. Our Schedule A is avaliable upon request.
We are sponsored, in part, by the Maryland State Arts Council
