Charles Casey

Charles Casey began studying trombone at age ten. His first teacher was David Mazer of The United States Army Band. He then studied at The University of Texas in El Paso with Dr. Ronald Hufstader. Mr. Casey continued his studies at The Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, earning a Bachelors of Music Performance degree. While at Peabody, Mr. Casey studied with James Olin of the Baltimore Symphony, and Eric Carlson of the Philadelphia Orchestra.Mr. Casey has been a member of “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band since 1993, and has held the position of assistant principal trombone since 1998. He is a Master Sergeant and has soloed on two national concert tours, at The White House, and at Wolf Trap Farm Park.
Before joining the band, Mr. Casey was a freelance musician in the Baltimore/Washington area performing as principal trombonist with Baltimore Opera, The Annapolis Symphony, and Concert Artists of Baltimore. He has substituted with the National Symphony, the Baltimore Symphony, and Harrisburg Symphony. He is a founding member of the Washington Symphonic Brass.
Mr. Casey resides in Baltimore with his wife and two daughters.
