Repertoire
The repertoire of the Washington Symphonic Brass ranges from
Renaisssance to Contemporary and from ceremonial to popular, including some
stunning jazz selections. In addition to full length concerts and
"pops" concerts, programs can be individually designed to feature
music with chorus, collaborations with organ, and music for Christmas and other
festivals. "Travel the World with Rhythm and Brass" is a
highly acclaimed educational program developed by the WSB. The ensemble plays
with vigor and vitality, whether exploring the majestic sonority of Strauss,
the contrapuntal elegance of Bach, the harmonic purity of Gabrieli, the violent
pathos of Shostakovich, the romping vivaciousness of Bernstein, or the swinging
rhythms of Benny Goodman. Their varied repertoire also includes such monumental
compositions as the Tomasi Fanfares Liturgiques or Mussorgsky's
Pictures at an Exhibition.
Repertoire includes:
- Canzon XVI from "Canzone e Sonate", Giovanni Gabrieli
- Oratorio No. 64 from the Christmas Oratorio, Johann Sebastian Bach
