The WSB 30th Anniversary Concert!

In 1993 Phil Snedecor and Milt Stevens assembled a group of diehard brass geeks in McLean VA for a set of rehearsals and concerts that changed the course of brass history in the Washington DC area. 30 years later, we're still going strong and are looking forward to presenting our anniversary concert in the same venue we started. On Sunday September 17th at Saint Luke Catholic Church (in partnership with Amadeus concerts) we will present a concert of music spanning the history of our repertoire, from the Respighi Ancient Airs to Classic Rock and so many things in between.

Location: 7001 Georgetown Pike, McLean VA

The Music of Leo Nestor: A concert to remember and celebrate

Our friend Leo Nestor (1948-2019) penned some extraordinary heartfelt works in his lifetime, many involving not only top choral groups in the DC area, but our finest instrumentalists. In his work as music director of Washington’s National Shrine and then professor at The Catholic University of America, Nestor influenced thousands of musicians, and the WSB was a big part of his legacy. This concert of Nestor’s choral and brass music combines some of Nestor’s own singers alongside the Madeleine Choir School and the Washington Symphonic Brass for a once in a lifetime experience in celebration of this singular musician.

Friday February 4th 7:30 pm

Singing Brass; Music for the Soul. A concert to remember, grieve and celebrate.

The past year has been hard on everyone, but devastating for others who lost loved ones to Covid. This is especially difficult since, in many cases, we have been unable to grieve our losses and celebrate the lives of those lost. This concert, with repertoire taken from the vocal repertoire, finally gives us that opportunity to come together and begin to heal as a community.

This is a free concert with all artists and venues donating their services. We miss our audiences and look forward to seeing you there. We all need this more than we realize.

Music of von Bingen, Bach, Whitacre, Boulanger, Lauridsen, Bernstein and others.
